Recipe: Healthy side dishes.

At Grilier Gourmet we believe that you can enjoy a wonderful barbecue and take care of your body at the same time. Today we share with you some recipes of side dishes that could be a complement for your barbecues or any other meals.

 

APPLE AND CARROT SALAD

A refreshing salad special for those hot days. To chop the apples and carrots you can use a food processor, a grater or a knife.

INGREDIENTS (for 6 portions):

  • 10 oz. shredded Carrots
  • 4 cups Granny Smith apples, shredded
  • 1 cup raisins or cranberries
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 3 tbsp non fat Greek Yogurt
  • 3 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 3 tbsp honey or agave syrup
  • 1/2 tsp salt

PREPARATION:

  1. In a medium sized bowl whisk together mayonnaise, Greek yogurt, vinegar, honey and salt.

  2. Put carrots, apples and raisins in a bowl. Then add the dressing and mix.

CAPRESE AND AVOCADO SALAD

This classic italian recipe has reborned thanks to avocado, you can´t miss this recipe.

INGREDIENTS (for 4 portions):

  • 2 cups red cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 2 cups yellow cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 2 avocados, diced
  • 8 oz. small fresh mozzarella
  • ½ cup fresh basil, chopped
  • ¼ cup olive oil
  • ¼ cup balsamic vinegar
  • Salt to taste

PREPARATION:

  1. In a large sized bowl put together the tomatoes, avocado, mozzarella and basil. If you can’t get the cherry tomatoes you can replace them for normal size tomatoes.

  2. In a medium sized bowl whisk the olive oil, balsamic vinegar and salt. Add the dressing to the salad.

  3. ¡Share with your guests!


 

PEACH SALAD

We will finish this salad selection with this sweet one, an addiction.

INGREDIENTS (for 4 portions):

  • 5 cups green salad
  • 3 fresh peaches, pits removed and cut into wedges
  • ½ cup walnuts
  • ⅓ cup feta cheese, crumbled
  • 3 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon mustard
  • ⅓ cup olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt

PREPARATION:

  1. In a medium sized bowl whisk vinegar, mustard, vinegar, olive oil and salt.

  2. In a bowl place the green salad, peaches, walnuts and feta cheese.  Add the dressing to the salad.

  3. ¡Try not to eat it all and share it with your guests!


BONUS: ITALIAN DRESSING FOR SALADS

INGREDIENTS:

  • ¾ cup olive oil
  • ¼ cup vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon fresh garlic, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and pepper

PREPARATION:

  1. Mix all the ingredients in a jar and let it rest for at least a couple of hours.

  2. ¡Enjoy with your best salads!
